Kinder Kixx starts this week!

Kinder kicks is starting the fall season this Tuesday September 24th at 12:30. The first class is a free trial to see if your kiddos enjoy the program. It is an amazing fun and convenient way to expose your children to the exciting world of soccer and team sports. You can register online at kinderkixx.com.

Yankee Candle Fundraising

This year we will again be participating in the Yankee Candle School Fundraiser. We are planning on running the fundraiser from 10-14-2013 through 10-28-2013 in order to make sure all orders are in for Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts. Keep an eye out for your fundraising packet to arrive this week!

This year we are hoping to raise enough money to purchase a school Ipad!

Asian Celebration

This Thursday 10/10/2013 we will be celebrating the end of our Asia unit by showing a movie, Mulan, and serving Asian themed snacks. Please check your folders and return your permission slips by Thursday if your child is able to participate!

Last week we wrapped up our Family unit. This week we are starting our new unit where we will be learning all about Asia, the letter C and the number 2. 

If your family has any empty liter soda bottles to donate for a project that would be greatly appreciated.

We are continuing our book borrowing program, please try to read the books at home with your child that they picked out and return them on Thursday each week.

Also please remember if you haven't turned in your immunization records and medical authorization to do ASAP so your child doesn't have to miss any fun days!

Week 3 and 4: All About Me

We made it through he first two weeks of Back to School! 

 I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekend.

These next two weeks our curriculum theme is All About Me! 

This week we are getting to know all about your child's favorite things, their families, friends and lives. We sent home an All About Me Poster this week for your student to complete and bring back.  Each student will present their poster to the class and it will then be displayed for the next week. It's so fun to see what answers they come up with! We will also be working on:

Language Arts: 

Letter Aa, Letter/word recognition assessment, Journals

Math: 

Number 0, circles vs. Ovals, color recognition, measurements 

Science:

 All About our Bodies

Social Studies: 

All About Different Families

Technology: 

Ipad Body Game

Art: 

Self Portraits

Today the kids got started on learning about themselves by tracing and decorating their body outlines. 

Take a few minutes to "Guess Who" when you see them decorating the main hallway!

 

The weekend homework assignment for this week is to finish your All About Me Poster and an All About Me Math worksheet to be completed and returned to school. It will be sent home Thursday 9/5  or you can print a copy out below:

Back to School Night

2013-2014 School Supply List

It's that time of year! New school supplies are starting to pop up at the store! I have to say as strange as it sounds, I love the smell of new crayons!! Here is a copy of the supply list for the 2013-2014 school year. 

 

Last year we had a lot of families who had trouble finding the primary journals. I recently was at a Dollar Tree and noticed that they had them! I think they are becoming more popular so they should be easier to find. The primary journals are special journals for young children that have wide line spacing and a blank top page for illustrations. Good luck with your shopping!
